Case Study: Durand School District

In the summer of 2015, Durand School District was approached with an innovative idea they had not heard of before, competitively bidding their natural gas on the open wholesale market to save money and protect their budget. Leadership at the school reviewed the program and information provided to them by MEP Solutions and decided that the benefits were great enough to give it a try, knowing that saving money wherever possible is paramount to their school.

Despite low natural gas prices, the value of running the MEP best practices program still carried merits. The Durand School District saved $4,283 (15% savings) on their annual natural gas cost. This results in a return on investment (ROI) of 384%, which means they saved almost $4 for every $1 input to run the program.
